What to anticipate from PSX Saturday Dec. 9, 2017

With The Game Awards celebrating all the accolades and acclaims the year of 2017 brought to gaming, we look forward in anticipation to 2018 with PSX tomorrow on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Anaheim, CA 8PM PT.  With AAA titles such as SpidermanGod of War, and Days Gone, Sony looks to have a promising year offering many exclusives previously shown off at this year’s E3.

As with most Expos, you can expect to see PSVR at the forefront of many conversations.  With titles such as DoomVR, Lone Echo, and the VR Game of the Year Winner Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, you can expect Sony to bring out many developers to speak about their upcoming games.  Especially since PSVR is currently advertised at $299 USD across many outlets.

Typically, many teasers still in production are held back from E3 and PAX to be shown at the annual PSX.  Last year PSX treated us to trailers and teasers for Crash Bandicoot: The N. Sane Trilogy and The Last of Us: Part 2, along with other snippets of popular titles such as best soundtrack Nier: Automata and best narrative What Remains of Edith Finch.  This year we’re baffled on what to expect.  To the surprise of many The Game Awards gave us a more in depth look at Hiedo Kojima’s Death Stranding, but will we get a gameplay trailer as well?  With Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus scheduled to be at the event, the possibilities are endless.

The topic on everybody’s mind (myself included) is this year’s most anticipated game The Last of Us: Part 2.  In October, we were treated to a brand new trailer with some unfamiliar faces, not recognized in the first game.  Naughty Dog continued to surprise us with a gripping scene that involved: lynching, an axe to the cranium, and a horde of infected chasing after this unnamed group of characters, that reassures that when it comes to delivering atmosphere and a narrative, The Last of Us doesn’t hold back.  With Naughty Dog confirming that a panel will be present, does this confirm that The Last of Us: Part 2 will be shown tomorrow?  Will we get that long awaited for gameplay trailer?  And a long shot, will the rumored two player campaign be demonstrated?

Other games that we at Aribaa are excited to hear more from is SuckerPunch’s Ghost of  Tsushima, which looks like a new cinematic take on feudal Japan.  SuckerPunch has given us great franchises such as Sly Cooper, and Infamous, so it’s no surprise to see them tackling a new IP in this generation of PS4. After PSX, FromSoftware, creators of the Dark Souls franchise released a short teaser trailer that has left many baffled on what it is.  Is this a teaser for the highly anticipated Bloodborne II we keep hearing rumors about, or is it a brand new IP entirely?

Many things are sure to happen tomorrow in what looks to be an exciting end to a weekend of announcements, trailers, and awards given out last night.  What are your thoughts on PSX tomorrow?  Any PSVR or exclusives you are looking forward to?  Let us know in the comments.
